With more than 25 years of experience in wildlife conservation, animal welfare, and dog behavior, Debra draws on a mix of professional and volunteer work to guide her approach. She earned a biology degree from the University of Alaska and is recognized as a Certified Shelter Behavior Consultant (IAABC) and Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CCPDT). During her time as a shelter director in New England, Debra worked closely with dogs from a wide range of backgrounds, including cases of neglect, hoarding, and dog fighting.
Since 2008, she has volunteered with a 501(c)(3) all-breed rescue, supporting foster homes and adopters through kind, effective training that helps strengthen the bond between people and their dogs. When she’s not working with the wonderful trainers and clients at The Right Paw, Debra enjoys spending time training and competing with her own dogs in Obedience and Rally.
